Want to know more?

Firstly, thankyou for visiting my blog. Please comment as you wish, I always reply as I love to hear what you have to say.

So who am I?

My name is Elena Ransley, although you are welcome to call me Ellie. I am in my late twenties, and married with two children. I guess you could call me a writer, but I am not sure I feel confident enough at this stage to give myself that tag.

I have recently finished my studies at Glyndwr University in Media Communications and Writing and have graduated with a 1st.

During my first year, I started writing a script – The Lawns. It was more to fulfil the criteria for assessment, and not a deep want to be a script writer. By the time I handed in the first ten pages, I was well on way to completing my first project.

During my first summer break, I received a letter informing me I had achieved a place in the top 15% of a children’s writing competition – not bad for my first piece of children’s writing.

The Lawns was finally sent to the BBC in February 2010, just a year after I had written the first scene. Two weeks before my daughter was born, coinciding with the end of my second year of studies, I received detailed feedback on my script. Amazing! I had only ever expected to receive a standard response. As with most things I do, it was only ever meant as an experiment. I wanted to go through the process to understand it better.

When I returned to University for my last year, we were given the choice of what we wished to study for our Media Communications portfolio. I decided to research e-books. My attitude was somewhat negative to the shifting market.

By the time I had completed my project, I had written ‘A Simple Guide to Self-Publishing.’ The book does exactly what it says, it guides writers through the process of self-publishing. Needless to say I am now a convert to e-books. Everything has it place, and sure, traditional books and publishing will always have their place, but it is time to embrace the new.

In December 2011, I edited and brought to the market ‘A Cuppa and an Armchair’. A short story collection for the charity Equipe.

What is the blog about?

The blog pretty much covers everything and anything to do with reading, writing, and the bits in-between.

At this time, Feb 2012, we have just begun the No Way Out challenge. for this, we are taking a short story and devloping it into a one off drama for TV. Follow the progress here, and by all means, join in. Should be good fun!

And finally…

Take a peep around and as I have said, please do feel free to comment on any posts as you wish. If you would like to contact me direct you can contact me at chat@elenaransley.com, or on twitter @elenaransley.

Do you know of any good books about the history of Romney Marsh?

I would call you a writer just for writing in blogs, I don’t much care for social etiquette when it comes to labels and elites. An expressed thought is an expressed thought. 🙂 Long as it can be understood.

I wish I had the money to go to school for grammer, script writing etc… I do have a few movie ideas that is with the times! 🙂

I wish you the best! 🙂 (Warm smiles)

I think you are probably right there, might be time for an update on the old about page! Will give it some thorough thought however, definitely needs to be more entertaining.

As for the school thang, I was lucky I could get a student loan, otherwise there was no chance. Just wish you could apply for multiple loans as I am itching to get back into learning.

And finally, thanks for dropping in and saying hi!

I have a question for you. I see that you no longer have wordpress. in your address. How did you go about getting rid of that?

Go into your settings. From there you can change your URl for a small fee. That is so unspecific but it is through wordpress dashboard. It was a wile back now that I did it but I shall take a peep later and try and find where and how I did it ha.
